Spare body parts—hard to find
Anyone seeking a new tailgate for a W116 Crayford Estate can purchase one (or its components) from Motomobil GmbH. Note, of course, that the bottom part of the tailgate—where the end of the W116 boot lid is grafted on—would still require that particular modification. This mob are remanufacturing old Ford parts, including those for the Ford Granada wagon from which the non-Benz panels of a W116 Crayford Estate were taken.
New NASA map of the world—released 29 June ’09
Unrelated to cars, but perhaps interesting … .
This map (used in the Registry to plot Crayford locations) is the latest in whizz-bang cartography from NASA. It was created from nearly 1.3 million individual stereo-pair images collected by the Japanese Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer, or ASTER, instrument aboard Terra. NASA and Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, known as METI, developed the data set. It is available online to users everywhere at no cost.
